Isn’t this more about identity than bitcoin? a paymail for casual nonlocal private transactions p2p can be just as secure as a government ID verified system.

As far as security goes, the only downside to paymail is a government can shut a citizen down by freezing the domain tge citizen owns— just as easily for JohnQPublic.me as for JQP@gmail.com.

But I agree that a wallet can be more “secure” from governmental control (violations of privacy) using a different system from paymail.

But it seems your alternate solution here, if i’m reading it right, has the same attack vector as paymail. namely, a government can get between you and buying a banana from the park cart vendor during a stroll.

I’m not anti-law but i’m also not in favor of every purchase needing government ID. credit cards aren’t even good at that.
